1) So, I told you that I had a fantastic training weekend in Lake Placid last weekend. And I can tell you that I’m not done just yet. I have a couple more weeks of training ahead of me. And last night I had the realization, for like the millionth time, that none of this would be possible without an amazing support crew. Last night I had about a million and one things to do and add to that the stress of a family situation at 1:00 AM and I realize how impossible it would be for me to get any of this crazy training done without all of the wonderful people in my life. I have friends who train with me, some who help watch the kids, a supportive boyfriend who after being up from 1:00 AM – 2:00 AM works out an alternative training plan for the following day because let’s face it, I need sleep too. I am lucky and I am so thankful for my “village” of people. Having said that, I am going to ask that my friends and family be careful with themselves and just try to remain ok between now and 7/27. I love you, but please stop worrying me so! Thank you.
Crazy people make up my “village!”
2) Speaking of “villages” of people. Word on the street is that the bike special needs volunteer station is still looking for folks for the big dance on 7/27/14. So basically bike special needs is the coolest volunteer job ever. You get to man the bags at the half way point on the bike. So you help athletes refuel, recharge and whatever else they might need while they’re in town and before they head out for their second loop. I had a blast doing it last year and I learned a ton of do’s and don’ts for the big day. So! Won’t you join us and volunteer for Lake Placid Ironman 2014?
