Well that does it. We are officially in it. Today was the first race of the “season” here in the Capital District. Truthfully it’s not the first race of the season, but everyone sort of thinks of it that way. We all headed out into the cold this morning for the Running of the Green Island 4 miler. Oh what fun. Well… fun-ish.
Since today’s race was short I went out a bit too fast and was really feeling it for the last mile. I managed to hang in there and get this I did indeed PR… by four seconds. Ha ha! But seriously, my lungs ached today from the cold air and my feet were so cold. And don’t even get me started on how I will never ever again wear a clothing item in a race that I have tried in training. Capri pants that are too big = disaster for four long miles.
Anyway, it felt good to be out there and I was able to bring along a pal and my best team supporter.
All in all it was a good start to the day. I’m excited for what 2013 has in store. And now that I refueled at lunch with all the rock stars, I’m going to change, lace up and hit the streets for another 6 miles. Happy Saturday!
