Today, I’m just feeling good about life on lots of different levels. I think that some of it is due in part to a great conversation that I had with a new runner last night. We talked about why we started running. It’s always fun to look back at where you’ve come from.
So as a result today, I’m thinking about the things that are making me smile today in no particular order:
~My sneakers. I love that there are sneakers all over my house. If you open my closet there are four pairs of the exact same sneaker. Some are too worn out to still run in but I love them just the same. I hate throwing them out or giving them away.
~My little boy. He was so excited to help out the aforementioned new runner last night. As we ran laps he told her stories of his day, his Halloween costume and more. It certainly made our run go faster and he had a great time being the coach!
~ My pup. She had a foot injury recently and I was wondering when we’d be able to run again. She’s only been healing for a few days but she’s reminded me how resilient dogs are. She’s up and moving around and walking fine already. I am positive that we’ll be running (her on the grass) next week.
~ Fall weather! I don’t know if I have said it before but fall weather brings my favorite time of year for running. I love the cooler temps, the beautiful scenery and the fact that I don’t have to carry as much water with me! Seriously… I have a couple of races coming up and am just getting the hang of this marathon training and I’m loving that it’s fall right now. Plus I love wearing different running clothes. Pathetic I know, but I now get to break out all of my cool tall socks, capri pants, and long sleeve race shirts!
~ My running peeps. This is an ever-changing bunch of people depending on folks availability and scheduling conflicts. However, I love that there are other people as crazy as I am that want to meet any day of the week for a run! And I will say it here and I’m sure that I’ve said it before, the friendships that you’re able to develop with your running partners are unlike any other in life.
~ Chocolate. No explanation needed.
~ Pumpkin Ale. See I’m carbo loading and this time of year features my favorite beer. I love pumpkin ale so I’m making it my job to get my fill this October!
~ Fun! Now that training has slowed for the “off-season,” there is time for fun! (I never in a million years would have thought that I would call training for a marathon the off-season). It’s been great to have a little more time while not swimming and biking to just have fun!
What’s making you smile today? Who knows why I feel this good when I have a 6 mile run on the schedule for today and another 9 tomorrow. Good thing I have those running peeps to pull me through!
