What’s with all of the gear you say? Well, I’m sure that I’m not the first runner to do this……….. but I’m slowly accumulating the gear, the practice and the desire to try my hand at the world of triathlons. In my heart I have a feeling that I will always be a runner first, but ….. there is just something about all of the cool gear, the cross training and the opportunity to present myself with yet another challenge. I just have to give it a shot.
I haven’t yet committed to any actual races. I feel that it’s a good idea to not do that until you at least have a bike. Silly little detail, I know. But seriously, until I get everything in order, start training and feel semi-confident, I’m not ready to commit to a race. The whole idea of transitions scares the be-jesus out of me. I’m sure I’ll figure it out…… but seriously, to me this sounds like the stuff nightmares are made of.
The good news is that my bike has arrived at Elevate and is built. I go for my fitting on Tuesday. So hears to hoping that I can figure out this riding thing. Heck, just about anything has to be easier than swimming! And the run, well, I’ve got that down. So here’s to a new challenge and a new chapter. And as someone else told me the other day (she was talking about running her first full marathon), if not now then when?!
