A Break From the Norm

Today is a break from the norm.  Today is C’s 3rd birthday!  So I’m taking this break from talking all things running and instead talking all things C.  First, happy birthday to the most incredible person I’ve ever met.  Three years ago today you entered my life, and while it was a painful process, it was the best day of my life.

You have changed my life in so many ways and you have helped me to become a better person.  You have forced me outside of myself and made me see the world with a whole new set of eyes.  Every day is a new adventure, filled with excitement and discovery.  It’s because of you, Collin, and your zest for life that I started paying attention to myself as well.

Here are just a few of the many, many things that I love about you right now, that make me smile daily:

1- Every morning before I get you out of the car I say “Ready Freddy?” and you reply “Me not Freddy, me Collin.”

2- Your favorite stuffed animals have been named Booger the Penguin and Snuggles the Cow.

3- Your smile and your laugh are completely contagious.  I can’t not smile when you start.

4- You are a super excellent snuggler.  Having you curl up on my lap, brings a sense of peace that I can’t find any other way.

5- You still call me Mama.  I love it.  Even though you can say Mommy now and Mom, your default will always be Mama.  It’s adorable and absolutely endearing.

So, Happy Birthday Collin.  Thank you for being the amazing person that you are.  I can only imagine all that you will become.  And thank you for helping me to be the person that I am today.  I owe a lot to you and your ability to push me outside of myself.  I love you little man ….. all the way to the moon and the stars and back!

Sarah, you are the best “Mama” ever, and that explains why Collin is so amazing. We are all so lucky to have such a wonderful little fella in our lives!
